Where am I?
Who am I?
What surrounds me?
This dark,
This silence,
This pain.
Have I created this place?
In this place a thought comes to me.
Has everything I have seen and done my own doing?
Have I brought this on myself?
I fear I have.
I have caused
This dark,
This silence,
This pain.
This is my fault.

That is so sad you should not be so down on your shelf because if you can make it that dark your deeds now can make it light again.
I truly believe that attitude is the one aspect of destiny that you are in control of. I've struggled with these thoughts before.
As far as the "Who am I?" line, I know that you're a great writer-keep at it ;)
Wow, I love that!
Sometimes when you feel down and all alone, all you need to do is find the strengh within you. Face the world with a smile on your face. And have faith that everything will be better. It might be your fault, but it is also you who can stand up and fight and survive :)
Thanks for stopping by
We've got Tonight by Bob Seger, love that song.
this is so sad...if you truly believe that you've brought all that on yourself then you can definitely bring yourself out of it. you are in control of your life. stay strong.
Ah, I am reminded of a Buddhist teaching:
"One cannot lay force upon another unless the other allows it to. Thus, we must not allow it to and observe in unclouded wisdom."
In a way your pain is your fault the same way happiness is something you bring to yourself through hard work. However, one must not look at detriments, unhappiness, or etc which darken our view of life as what we portray them. One of the most renowned hindu philosophers stated that fear is an illusion in the same way all these feelings which induce depressing thoughts are. This is a very psychological issue and is one of the main issues everybody has because they don't know how to channel anguish and convert it to the simple energy that it is within the state of mind. Medicine and the psyche aside, wonderful prose. Aestheticism fits you well huh
For me, I try not to think of fault as much as privilege. There is a privilege given us to have such power over our choices and results. Some don't go so well. Some do. Alongside that is the learning and growth through takes and mistakes. Then, there is always the rest of the world giving and taking and determining into our paths. Our responses to that we can determine but we don't have total control over the stuff thrown into our path. Some goes well. Some doesn't. Enjoy the journey. Today's tears of sadness can grow great roses of joy tomorrow.
Gee! I wish I knew you better. Then I could blame all of my screw ups on you because you seem to think everything is your fault.
Just kidding! I like your poetry. If I can make just one suggestion. Poets I think are often sensitive people. I sense that about you. Try to avoid too much introspection. We are all faulted creatures. Too much introspection without proper perspective can destroy us.
BTW, as I said, I like your poetry, but you can keep the leeches.
