Lullabye

Rock-a-bye baby in the treetop.
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock.
When the bow breaks the cradle will fall.
And down will come baby, cradle and all.

Read this song carefully.

Am I the only one who finds this a beautiful but darkly messaged song?

I have always found this verse very disturbing. I suppose a little research would help explain the darkness behind the rhyme. Probably it is something similar to 'Ring Around the Rosie'.

Disturbing definitely fits this little song. Think about the impact of singing it over and over to a child to go to sleep?
